Yabeithyris was named by Hatai (1948) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi Sepkoski's reference number: 1]. Its type is Yabeithyris notoensis.

It was assigned to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Terebratellidina by Williams et al. (2007).
