Taxonomy
Davidsonella was named by Munier-Chalmas (1881) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Rhae J l Sepkoski's reference number: 1,1066]. It is not extant. Its type is Thecidea sinuata. It is the type genus of Davidsonellinae.

It was reranked as Thecidea (Davidsonella) by Rollier (1915).

It was assigned to Thecidea by Rollier (1915); to Thecideida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Davidsonellinae by Williams et al. (2006).
