Dolerorthis savagei was named by Amsden (1974) [= Orthis flabellites fissiplicata SAVAGE, 1913, p. 122, pI. 6,
fig. 7; not Foerste, 1895.]. Its type specimen is IU RX-283 and is a 3D body fossil.
