Cylindrophyma was named by Zittel (1878) [Sepkoski's age data: J Oxfo-l J Kimm-u Sepkoski's reference number: 775,1066]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Cylindrophymatidae.
It was assigned to Lithistida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cylindrophymatidae by Finks et al. (2004).
