Longvillia grandis
Taxonomy
Orthis grandis was named by de Sowerby and Murchison (1839) [Lectotype designated by Williams (1963)]. Its type specimen is Peter Redpath Museum Spec., a valve (ventral valve internal mould), and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Longvillia.
It was recombined as Chonostrophia grandis by Williams and Breger (1916); it was recombined as Strophomena grandis by Williams (1963); it was synonymized subjectively with Campylorthis discreta by Mitchell (1977); it was recombined as Longvillia grandis by Bancroft (1933), Roomusoks (2004), Cocks (2010) and Colmenar et al. (2013).
