It was synonymized subjectively with Leptaena duplicata by Sowerby (1839) and Sowerby (1839); it was recombined as Eoplectodonta precursa by Bassett and Cocks (1974); it was recombined as Eoplectodonta (Eoplectodonta) precursor by Cocks (2010); it was recombined as Eoplectodonta precursor by Mitchell (1977) and Hints and Harper (2015).
