Strophomena nuntia was named by Barrande (1879).

It was recombined as Eoplectodonta (Kozlowskites) nuntius by Williams (1965); it was recombined as Kozlowskites nuntius by Havlicek (1952), Havlicek (1967) and Cocks (2014).
