Taxonomy
Opikina septata was named by Salmon (1942) [= ?Strophomena incrassata Hall. Safford 1869, Geology of Tennessee, pp. 235, 244, 258, 286]. It is the type species of Oepikina.

It was recombined as Oepikina septata by Pope (1976), Pope (1982), Rong and Cocks (1994) and Congreve et al. (2019).
