A. M. Murray and J. G. M. Thewissen 2008Differs from Parachanna by lacking a frontal- pterotic contact, and the sphenotic radiating in two ridges, not three. Differs from Channa by having no raised area, with or without teeth, on the posterior part of the ventral surface of the parasphenoid.
