Carabus bipunctatus was named by Linnaeus (1761). It is extant.

It was recombined as Bembidium (Testidium) bipunctatum by Lomnicki (1894); it was recombined as Bembidion bipunctatum by Coope et al. (1961); it was recombined as Bembidion (Testedium) bipunctatum by Maddison (2012).
