Taxonomy
Cyclocystoides was named by Salter and Billings (1858). Its type is Cyclocystoides halli. It was considered monophyletic by Smith and Paul (1982).

It was assigned to Echinodermata by Salter and Billings (1858); to Cyclocystoidea by Henderson and Shergold (1971); to Cyclocystoididae by Regnéll (1945), Parsley (1981) and Smith and Paul (1982); and to Isorophida by Sepkoski (2002).
