Skenidium lewisii woodlandiense was named by Davidson (1882) [Lectotype designated by Cocks (2005: 82).]. Its type specimen is B 72695 and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Skenidioides woodlandiense by Temple (1987); it was recombined as Skenidioides woodlandiensis by Cocks (2008).
