Taxonomy
Leptostrophia tenuis was named by Williams (1951). Its type specimen is SM. A30044, a valve (interior of ventral valve), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Palaeoleptostrophia tenuis by Rong and Cocks (1994).
