Hemithyris angustrifrons was named by Salter (1851).

It was recombined as Cryptothyrella angustrifrons by Cocks and Toghill (1973); it was recombined as Hyattidina angustifrons by Temple (1987); it was recombined as Hyattidina augustifrons by Temple (1988); it was recombined as Hindella angustifrons by Cocks (2008).
