Taxonomy
Gyroceratites was named by Meyer (1831) [Sepkoski's age data: D Emsi-l D Emsi-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Mimoceratinae by Arkell et al. (1957); to Anarcestida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Mimoceratidae by Korn and Klug (2002) and Korn (2006).
