Taxonomy
Mystriosuchidea was named by Jaekel (1910).

It was synonymized subjectively with Phytosauridae by Kuhn (1946) and Kuhn (1964); it was corrected as Mystriosuchidae by Huene (1922), Case (1922), Kuhn (1971) and Long and Murry (1995).

It was assigned to Belodonti by Jaekel (1910); to Parasuchia by Huene (1922) and Case (1922); to Parasuchida by Kuhn (1971); and to Parasuchia by Long and Murry (1995).
