Taxonomy
Pentamerus palaformis was named by Jin and Copper (2000) [= 1928 Pentamerus oblongus juvenalis Twenhofel, p. 204 (nomen nudem). = 1981 Pentamerus oblongus, smooth morphotype; Mork, p. 542, pl. 84, figs. 12-15; pl. 85, figs. 4-6, 10-13. = 1984 Pentamerus oblongus blandus Jin, p. 67, pl. 4, figs. 1-14; pl. 5, figs. 8-1 0; pl. 6, figs. 4-7; pl. 7, figs. 1-7; pl. 8, figs. 1-5 (nomen nudem). = 1991 Pentamerus oblongus juvenalis; Jin and Caldwell, p. 316, pl. I, figs. 9-11.]. Its type specimen is GSC 59162, a valve, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is A0222. Baie aux Goelands, which is in an Aeronian carbonate lime mudstone in the Jupiter Formation of Canada.
