Taxonomy
Bombus cerdanyensis was named by Dehon et al. (2014). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Bellver-en-CerdaƱa (MNHN collection), which is in a Vallesian lacustrine diatomite in Spain.
It was recombined as Bombus (Melanobombus) cerdanyensis by Dehon et al. (2019).
