Latouchella aliciae was named by Brock (1998). Its type locality is Unit 1, Murrawong Creek Section, which is in a Floran/Undillan submarine fan conglomerate in the Murrawong Creek Formation of Australia.
It was recombined as Dorispira aliciae by Parkhaev and Demidenko (2010) and Wagner (2023).
