Taxonomy
Procleptes hopejohnsonae was named by McKellar and Engel (2014). Its type specimen is UASM 336804, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Grassy Lake, Medicine Hat (UASM collection), which is in a Campanian terrestrial amber in the Foremost Formation of Canada.
