Taxonomy
Trichomyia richardi was named by Stebner and Solórzano Kraemer (2014). Its type specimen is UCMP 10381, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is UCMP B-7047, Simojovel, which is in a Miocene terrestrial amber in the Mazantic Shale Formation of Mexico.
