Taxonomy
Encrinuroides uncatus was named by Evitt and Tripp (1977). It is the type species of Prophysemataspis.

It was recombined as Physemataspis (Prophysemataspis) uncatus by Lespérance and Desbiens (1995); it was recombined as Prophysemataspis uncatus by Jell and Adrain (2003); it was recombined as Erratencrinurus uncatus by Moss and Westrop (2014).
