Taxonomy
Encrinurus spicatus was named by Tripp (1974). Its type specimen is USNM 164151, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Encrinuroides spicatus by Desbiens and Lespérance (1989); it was recombined as Erratencrinurus spicatus by Moss and Westrop (2014).

R. P. Tripp 1974Glabella relatively narrow anteriorly, strongly, convex; frontal lobe about half length of glabella, with relatively few tubercles. Tubercle formula: I-1; II-111-1,2,3; (iv-0); IV-1,2,(3); V-1,2. False preglabellar field marked off posteriorly by a shallow furrow. Pygidium with six pairs of pleurae.
