Ammonites arduennensis was named by d'Orbigny (1848). Its type specimen is MNHN.F.R03002 and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Peltoceras arduennense by Waagen (1875); it was recombined as Parawedekindia arduennensis by Jeannet (1951); it was recombined as Peltoceratoides (Parawedekindia) arduennensis by Alberti et al. (2011).
