Taxonomy
Ringsteadia frequens was named by Salfeld (1917). Its type specimen is NHM C24092, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Wootton Bassett (uppermost Ampthill Clay, BMNH), which is in an Oxfordian marine claystone in the Ampthill Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
