Taxonomy
Eolestes ramosus was named by Greenwalt and Bechly (2014). Its type specimen is USNM 559047, a wing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Disbrow Creek, Middle Fork Flathead River (Kishenehn), which is in a Lutetian lacustrine - large shale in the Kishenehn Formation of Montana.
