Polycosmites is a genus. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Polycosmitida, Polycosmitidae. It was considered unknown by Bernard (1895).

It was assigned to Caryocrinitidae by Bernard (1895); to Polycosmitidae by Beaver et al. (1967); and to Rhombifera by Sepkoski (2002).

F. Bernard 1895A genus of Caryocrinitidae with multidisjunct cryptorhombs with a complex arrangement of perpendicular canals forming a rhomb-in-rhomb structure. Primary thecal plates arranged as in the Caryocrinitidae. Oral area unknown.
