Brenthorrhinoidini was named by Legalov (2003). Its type is Brenthorrhinoides.

It was synonymized subjectively with Brenthorrhinini by Legalov (2012); it was reranked as the subtribe Brenthorrhinoidina by Gratshev and Legalov (2014) and Legalov (2015).

It was assigned to Eccoptarthrinae by Legalov (2009); to Brenthorrhininae by Bouchard et al. (2011); and to Brenthorrhinini by Gratshev and Legalov (2014) and Legalov (2015).
