Taxonomy
Regulaecystis was named by Dehm (1932) [Sepkoski's age data: O (Cara-l) - D (Eife)]. Its type is Regulaecystis pleurocystoides.

It was assigned to Pleurocystitinae by Sumrall and Sprinkle (1995); to Rhombifera by Sepkoski (2002); and to Henicocystinae by Nardin and Bohatý (2013).
