Leptaena (Leptaena) depressa
Taxonomy
Producta depressa was named by Sowerby (1824) ["Neotype" designated by Kelly (1967), redesignated as lectotype by Bassett & Cocks (1974). (It is from Sowerby's collection, after all.)
= Strophomena rhomboidalis (Wilckens); Davidson 1871, pl. 39, figs. 3, 5, 12, 14 only.]. Its type specimen is NHM B60649 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dudley, West Midlands, which is in a Homerian marine horizon in the Much Wenlock Limestone Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Leptaena depressa by Kelly (1967), Cocks (1968), Bassett and Cocks (1974) and Hoel (2005); it was recombined as Leptaena (Leptaena) depressa by Rubel (2011).
