Anastrophia grossa was named by Amsden (1958) [= Anastrophia verneuili Girty 1899, p. 565
= Anastrophia verneuili Reeds 1911, p. 267
= Anastrophia verneuili Maxwell 1936, p. 89]. Its type specimen is OU-943 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is C1-O; near old Hunton townsite, which is in a Lochkovian deep subtidal ramp marl in the Haragan Formation of Oklahoma.
