Atrypina hami was named by Amsden (1958) [= Atrypina imbricata Reeds 1911 p. 264 (not Leptocoelia intbricata Hall 1857) = Atrypina imbricata Maxwell 1936 p 89 (not Leptocoelia intbricata Hall 1857)]. Its type specimen is OU-271 and is a 3D body fossil.
