Taxonomy
Glyptorthis multicostellata was named by Cooper (1956). Its type specimen is USNM 116938b, a valve (pedicle valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is U. S. Highway 27, just north of Chickamauga Creek, which is in a Blackriveran offshore limestone/siltstone in the Ridley Formation of Georgia.
