Taxonomy
Zatrachys apicalis was named by Cope (1881). Its type specimen is AMNH FARB 4785 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Alegeinosaurus apicalis by Case (1911); it was considered a nomen dubium by Berman and Lucas (2003).
