Actenobius magneoculus was named by Peris et al. (2015). Its type specimen is CPT SJ-10-18, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is San Just amber, which is in an Albian terrestrial amber in the Escucha Formation of Spain.
