Taxonomy
Raphistoma bipatellare was named by Koken and Perner (1925). Its type specimen is PMO 6060, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Lesueurilla bipatellera by Vostokova (1955); it was recombined as Pararaphistoma (Pararaphistoma) bipatellera by Yochelson (1963); it was recombined as Mestoronema bipatellare by Ebbestad et al. (2013); it was recombined as Mestoronema bipatellera by Wagner (1999) and Wagner (2023).
