Taxonomy
Karataus strenuus was named by Zhang et al. (2014). Its type specimen is IGP 161233, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Daohugou (NIGP collection), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large shale in the Daohugou Formation of China.
