Taxonomy
Cimolopteryx minima was named by Brodkorb (1963). Its type specimen is UCMP 53976, a limb element (right coracoid), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mammal Quarry No. 1 (UCMP V-5003), which is in a Lancian terrestrial horizon in the Lance Formation of Wyoming.
