Taxonomy
Polydrosus (Palaeodrosus) archaetypus was named by Zherikhin (1971). Its type specimen is PIN 964/3, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic Amber, Yantarnyi village (PIN collection 964), which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in the Russian Federation.
It was recombined as Polydrusus (Palaeodrosus) archetypus by Yunakov and Kirejtshuk (2011), Legalov (2015), Legalov (2019) and Legalov and Poinar (2021).
