Metropatorites kassenbergensis was named by Keller (1934). It is an impression. Its type locality is Kassenberg near Mülheim, horizon 1, which is in a Yeadonian terrestrial shale in the Magerkohlenschichten Formation of Germany. It is the type species of Metropatorites.
