Taxonomy
Castericystis vali was named by Ubaghs and Robison (1988). Its type specimen is USNM 393391 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality 811, House Range, which is in a Marjumian marine limestone/shale in the Marjum Limestone Formation of Utah. It is the type species of Castericystis.
