Taxonomy
Chonetes macrostriata was named by Walcott (1884). Its type specimen is USNM 13809 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Longispina macrostriatus by Muir-Wood (1962); it was recombined as Parachonetes macrostriatus by Johnson (1966) and Johnson (1970).
