Taxonomy
Argyrotheca peculiaris was named by Cooper (1979). Its type specimen is USNM 550449 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Palmer Loc. 1245, Santa Maria del Rosario, which is in a Miocene marine horizon in Cuba.
