Cistellarcula dubia was named by Cooper (1979). Its type specimen is USNM 550335b and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USNM Loc. No. 818a, Marygalente Bay, which is in an Oligocene marine horizon in Antigua and Barbuda.
