Taxonomy
Megalaspis beckeri was named by Slocom (1913). Its type specimen is UC 41151, a skeleton (nearly complete, testate individual), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ravine 2 miles west of Clermont, which is in a Richmondian carbonate limestone/shale in the Elgin Formation of Minnesota.
It was recombined as Ectenaspis beckeri by Raymond (1920), Walter (1925) and Amati (2014).
