Leptaena juvenilis was named by Öpik (1930) [= Leptaena rhomboidalis Bekker, 1921, pl. 70, pl. 4 f. 9].
It was recombined as Kiaeromena juvenilis by Spjeldnaes (1957); it was recombined as Septomena juvenilis by Roomusoks (1989) and Roomusoks (2004); it was recombined as Leptaena (Septomena) juvenilis by Rasmussen et al. (2012).
