Taxonomy
Orthis flabellulum was named by Sowerby and Murchison (1839) [Sowerby in Sowerby & Murchison 1839].

It was recombined as Orthis (Dinorthis) flabellulum by Reed (1917); it was recombined as Dinorthis flabellulum by Williams (1963) and Villas et al. (2015).
