Dalmanella cheesemani

Taxonomy
Dalmanella cheesemani was named by Williams (1962) [= Orthis (Dalmanella) federata Reed 1917, p. 851 pars, pl. ix, figs. 22-23, non figs. 16-21, 24--27.]. Its type specimen is BB.25979, a valve (Internal mould of brachial valve), and it is a 3D body fossil.

Williams 1962Unequally and gently biconvex, subcircular to subquadrate Dalmanella, with a sulcate brachial valve averaging slightly less than three-quarters as long as wide; ornamentation fascicosteUate with secondaries very commonly developed within 2 mm. of the dorsal umbo; myophore of cardinal process bulbous and only exceptionally bilobed, socket and supporting plates commonly discrete, rarely masked by secondary shell substance in adult shells, with the latter pair of structures extending anteriorly for about one-eighth the length of the brachial valve; ventral muscle-scar subcordate, averaging just over one-quarter the length of the pedicle valve; vascula media initially slightly divergent.
