Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
G. A. Cooper 1956Shell of about medium size for the genus, with both valves strongly convex and the hinge equal to about seven-tenths the width. Cardinal extremities obtuse. Length and width subequal. Lateral margins moderately well rounded; anterior margin broadly rounded. Surface fascicostellate with the costellae bundled into a number of well-defined and elevated fascicles; 2 fascicles occupy the sulcus of the brachial valve, and 2 strong fascicles bound the sulcus. Median fascicle of the pedicle valve forming a low fold; 4 distinct fascicles present on the lateral slopes flanking the median fascicle.

Pedicle valve moderately convex in lateral profile with the maximum convexity located near the middle. Anterior profile narrowly rounded and with steep lateral slopes. Interarea apsacline, curved ; beak incurved.

Brachial valve moderately convex in lateral profile ; gently convex in anterior profile and with the center slightly depressed at the sulcus. Sulcus originating at the umbo, deepest near the middle and becoming broad and shallow at the anterior. Flanks bounding sulcus slightly swollen. Slopes to the cardinal extremities steep, slightly concave. Interarea moderately long, gently curved.

Interior of pedicle valve with fairly well developed vascula media but poorly defined median elevation. Median ridge of brachial valve low; cardinal process not preserved, or rudimentary.
A. Williams 1962Subcircular, subequaUy biconvex Paurorthis with a pedicle valve evenly convex in both lateral and transverse profiles, almost two-fifths as deep as long, and a less convex, gently sulcate brachial valve about four-fifths as long as wide; radial ornamentation fascicostellate with fascicles, commonly strongly developed, of fine costellae varying from 5 to 9, but usually 7, per millimetre at the antero-median margin; ventral muscle-scar deeply impressed, with a rounded anterior margin leading to subparallel vascula media, about one-third the length of the valve; cardinalia consisting of a simple, ridge-like, cardinal process developing late, and rod-like brachiophores, embedded in the secondary shell substance of the notothyrial platform, less than one-fifth the length of the brachial valve; dorsal median septum strong, extending forward for almost two-thirds of the valve length and separating a pair of narrow, reniform adductor scars impressed anterior to the notothyrial platform for nearly three-fifths of the length of the dorsal interior.
