A. Williams 1962Semicircular, concavo-convex Eoplectodonta most commonly subcarinate in transverse profile with a pair of lateral plicae, pedicle valve over one-half as long as wide; radial ornamentation consisting of differentially thickened parvicostellae, with a modal count of 15 costellae per 2 mm. in the median portions of pedicle valves about 5 mm. anterior of the umbones; postero-lateral rugae paired, acutely inclined to the hinge-line and most commonly numbering less than 7 within 5 mm. of the right side of the ventral umbo; hinge-line denticulate in adult stages of growth; dental lamellae short and divergent, elliptical impressions of ventral muscle-field separated by median ridge and about one-sixth as long as the pedicle valve; median septum of brachial valve developing later than the lateral pair, becoming strong and high.
